Dome
Dome is a set of three brooches inspired by the domes of churches. The three pieces show the same dome in the morning, at noon and at night. Each brooch is made by hand from S925 silver and red copper through a metal folding process that includes smelting, forging, buckling, folding, welding and polishing. Surface textures and a metal oxidant create the different colors. Hollow out areas allow the color and weave of the garment to be seen. Double needles on the back keep each brooch stable when worn.
Dome Brooch by HaiYu Tan was identified as a creative representation of fashion design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Dome Brooch won the Iron A' Design Award in Jewelry Design in 2020. The A' Jewelry Design Award is an international, meritocratic, just and fair design prize that honors excellent design of rings, necklaces, bracelets, earrings, brooches, pendants, cufflinks, anklets and more.
