Whispers Under Wings
Whispers Under Wings is a necklace pendant shaped as a beetle. The hollow wings form a delicate openwork shell that holds a small suspended sprite inside. As the wearer moves, the inner sprite shifts and produces a soft, bell-like sound. The pendant was developed through digital modeling and made in silver by lost-wax casting, followed by hand finishing, polishing and careful assembly. The piece measures 20 by 40 by 15 millimeters. The beetle is used as a symbol of protection, transformation and resilience, while the moving sprite suggests fragility and imagination.
Whispers Under Wings Necklace Pendant by Sirui Sophia Zhu was identified as a creative example of fashion design by the A' Design Awards. Whispers Under Wings Necklace Pendant received the Iron A' Design Award in Jewelry Design in 2026.
